• Halmonies in Seoul The Korean Council visited two halmonies in Seoul. Yoon halmoni pulled out a tooth recently. Her face was a bit swollen and she had pain in the cheek, yet she was more energetic than usual. Her daughter made vegetable juice and cut apples, and halmoni told us that apples are much tastier than vegetable juice. Halmoni loves the color white, so she only eats food that are white and tells others to do so as well. 2018년 12월 12일
• Poem from Dian Lestariningsih in Indonesia Ms. Dian Lestariningsih, from Indonesia, participated in the Wednesday Demonstrations held in Korea several times. Singing the Wednesday Demonstration opening song “Like A Rock” and learning about the stories of halmonies encouraged her to share her feelings and thoughts through poems. In “I Feel You”, she expressed understanding for halmonies, In “Thank You”, she expressed gratitude for halmonies’ courage. Kim Soon-ok halmoni was born in Pyongyang in 1922. To help her family, she worked since she was 7 years old. When she was 20 years old, she was told that she can work at a factory and earn money.
