Statement on the Removal of Statue of Peace in the Philippines
The Korean Council demands the Japanese Government to terminate its actions to erase the history and make official apology and legal reparations to the Japanese military sexual slavery victims!
The Statue of Peace established in San Pedro City on December 28th, 2018, was removed after the Japanese Embassy remonstrated against it on December 30th. The Statue of Peace in San Pedro City was established through the participation of the Mayor of San Pedro City, the former Mayor of Jecheon City in South Korea, and citizens.

For Peace 포피스 is an non-profit organization that organizes programs for peace education. Children members of For Peace watched I Can Speak 아이캔스피크, discussed the Japanese military sexual slavery issue, and wrote Christmas cards for Japanese military ‘comfort women’ halmonies. They also made butterfly accessories through pixel art and clay and sent them to the Korean Council as a message of solidarity

On December 20th, the ‘UnComfort Women’ Project (HS ad, HS 애드) visited Peaceful Our Home and donated 5,000,000 won to the Kim Bok-dong Peace Fund. - December Visits to Halmonies
On December 20th and 21st, the Korean Council visited halmonies in Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, Jeollanam-do for the last time in 2018.
On December 20th, we arrived to Pohang first. Although we urged halmoni not to come out to greet us in such a cold weather, she was waiting for us outside. She told us that someone from the city government visited her. We sat down in her room and showed her the gifts that the Korean Council and citizens prepared, from rice, meat, warm jackets, socks, cooking oils, to cosmetics.
