14 students of a student club called #0814 at Eonju Middle School in Gangnam, Seoul, visited Peaceful Our Home and donated 1,100,000 won to the Hand in Hand with 200,000 Japanese Military Sexual Slavery Victims Fundraising Campaign on November 9th. The students created badges to remember the Japanese military sexual slavery issue and stand in solidarity with halmonis until the Japanese government gives formal apology and legal reparations.

- Butterfly Fund News from Golden Women Vision in Uganda
The Golden Women Vision in Uganda is an organization that supports victims of sexual slavery and child soldier system by the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda.
The representative Acan Sylvia Obal, who is also a survivor, founded the organization to support other survivors like her.
Her tireless efforts and enthusiasm led her to win the 1st Kim Bok-dong Peace Prize. She also visited Korea for the 6th International Memorial Day for Japanese Military ‘Comfort Women’ in August, 2018.

- Butterfly Fund News from Uganda Wend Africa
The Butterfly Fund supports three organizations in Uganda that works to supports survivors of sexual slavery and child soldier system by the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda.
Wend Africa is an organization that supports the survivors to become economically independent through making and selling handmade bags, bracelets, and dolls.
Wend Africa provides training for the survivors to learn how to make products and recently started a savings group at the tailoring workshop.

Ha Jeom-yeon halmoni was born in Hadong, Gyeongsangnamdo in 1922. When she was 15 years old, she went to her sister’s house in Osaka, Japan, to help her look after her nephew. After 5 months, she was crying in front of the house because she missed her mother back home.

On September 22nd, the Korean Council participated in the 4th Conference on World War II in the Philippines, which was organized by the Bataan Legacy Historical Society to educate the war crimes of the Japanese Imperial Military to the younger generation and to remember and restore the victims’ human rights.
The Korean Council had the opportunity to listen to the experiences of teachers who educated the issues of war crimes, watched videos created by students on the Japanese military sexual slavery issue and Bataan Death March, and to discuss ways to educate the war crimes of the Japanese Imperial Military during the World War II.
