11am, March 2nd, 2019, Gwak Ye-nam halmoni from Damyang, South Jeolla Province passed away, leaving only 22 survivors of Japanese military sexual slavery. Lee OO halmoni passed away at 7:30am on January 28, 2019.
She was born in 1925. Around 1942 when she was 17 years old, she was heading home from her work at a textile factory with two colleagues. Then they were abducted by two soldiers who rode the military truck.
There were several women who were on the truck already. Together with 10~15 women who were on the other truck, they were all forced to board a ship to Shimonoseki, Japan.

Statement on the Removal of Statue of Peace in the Philippines
The Korean Council demands the Japanese Government to terminate its actions to erase the history and make official apology and legal reparations to the Japanese military sexual slavery victims!
The Statue of Peace established in San Pedro City on December 28th, 2018, was removed after the Japanese Embassy remonstrated against it on December 30th. The Statue of Peace in San Pedro City was established through the participation of the Mayor of San Pedro City, the former Mayor of Jecheon City in South Korea, and citizens.

- Obituary for Lee Gui-nyeo halmoni
On December 14th, 2018, Lee Gui-nyeo halmoni who stayed in a nursing hospital in Yongin passed away. Halmoni was born in Cheongju, Chungcheongbukdo in 1926. When she was 17 or 18 years old, the head of the village said she can earn a lot of money in China. Her mother replied that halmoni should stay and get married, but the head of the village told her that she can always come back.
